Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 7, 2026

This policy is for readers in Washington State, and we apply it to every reader. It is written for the Washington My Health My Data Act. It adds to our Privacy Policy and does not replace it.

1. Why this policy exists

Divine Breath is a devotional app. It is not health care, and we do not diagnose or treat anyone. But people write to us about what they carry: worry, grief, sleep, loneliness, hard days. Some of those words, and some setup answers, may show something about a person's mental or physical health. We have not decided which items below count as consumer health data under the Act. We treat all of them as this policy describes.

2. What we collect, and why

  • Words about your struggles. The text you write in the plan box when you set up the app (in the app or, once it opens to readers, on our website's start page), your morning notes, the words you hand over in a Comfort path (with a name you may add for someone you grieve), your prayer requests and posts in Community, your reflections, and your messages to Divine Guide. We use them to write your plan, to reshape tomorrow's plan day from a morning note, to give you a reply or a prayer, to keep Community safe, and to keep your journal and your Carried list. Reflections, morning notes, chat messages, Comfort hand-overs, and the words you write for your plan are stored encrypted.
  • Crisis findings. If our safety check finds crisis language in something you write, the reply shows help lines and we write a safety log entry with no text (or, for chat, a one-way hash of the message). We use it to review safety.
  • Your setup answers. In the app and, once it opens to readers, on our website's start page, we keep every setup screen you see and every answer you give, as the fixed choices the screens offered: what you need, what you would change, how long you have carried it, your tradition, your Bible choice, your age group, your gender, your first-week topics (for example, calm nights or hard days), and your answers while we prepare your plan (Privacy Policy, section 7). We use them to build your plan, to learn which plans help people and which lead to a trial or a subscription, and to improve the app. Your first-week topics go to our AI partner with your plan request, and the weeks they select are kept, encrypted, inside your AI-written plan. Apart from what our AI partners process for your plan and your replies, your answers about your faith and what you carry stay only on our own servers: they never go to an ad network, and we use them only to improve Divine Breath and for our own reader groups. With your account we also keep a short summary of your latest setup answers for those groups.
  • Your tradition and Bible choice. We store them with your account and count them, to show which Bible readers of a tradition choose most. They are religious information, not health information, and we list them here because we treat everything on this page alike.
  • Study progress. When you mark a day of a Bible-study series done, we keep which plan and which days, with when you started and finished. Some series are about topics such as grief or anxiety, so the plans you follow may point to how you feel.
  • Saved preferences on older accounts. An older account may hold what you said you need, how familiar you are with Scripture, your preferred practice, your daily rhythm, and your Christian tradition. We send them to our AI partners with your Divine Guide messages and your weekly summary, so replies fit you.

We do not collect your location for health purposes, biometric or genetic data, or data about health care you receive.

3. Where it comes from

It comes from you, from the app and, once it opens to readers, our website's start page as you use them, and from our own safety check, which creates the crisis findings.

4. Who it is shared with

We share it only as needed to run and improve the app, with the recipients below:

  • Our AI partners, OpenAI and DeepSeek, for your plan, your morning note's rewrite of tomorrow's plan day, your Divine Guide replies, your weekly summary, and Community checks and prayers. For readers in the European Union and the United Kingdom, plan, the morning note's rewrite and Community text go to OpenAI only. A morning note also joins your other reflections in the weekly summary, which goes to DeepSeek in every region. The Privacy Policy, section 6, says what each partner receives and how each handles it, including that DeepSeek processes data in China.
  • Supabase, which stores our data and runs our servers.
  • Other readers, for what you post in Community. Your prayer requests, posts, and group messages are shown to other readers under your Community name, and other readers can share a prayer request by link, with its title and its text.
  • Our team, which reviews reports about Community content. Our alerts to the team carry only an ID and a time, never your text.

Your age group and gender go to Google Firebase Analytics and to AppsFlyer (Privacy Policy, sections 5 and 7). We do not put your words, your setup answers about what you need and carry, your tradition, or your crisis findings into analytics, advertising, or attribution events. We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not use a geofence around any health facility.

5. Your consent

  • Giving it. Under the Continue button of the first setup screen, the app says that by continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy. Tapping Continue is your consent to collecting and sharing the data in this policy for the purposes above, including that our AI partners process your answers, including your faith and your feelings, to build your plan and to improve the app, with analytics, ad measurement, and reminders and offers by notification. Our website's start page carries the same line on its first step. There is no other consent screen or box.
  • Withdrawing. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account or by writing to support@divinebreath.app. You can also delete a single item, such as a reflection or your plan. A withdrawal does not undo what already happened.

6. Your rights

You may ask us to confirm whether we collect or share your consumer health data and to list who receives it; to withdraw consent; and to delete it. You can export your data and delete your account in the app. Deleting your account removes your words, morning notes and their rewrites, Comfort hand-overs, plans, setup answers, study progress, reflections, chat, and Community content from our servers, with the exceptions in the Privacy Policy. Our requests to our AI partners carry nothing that identifies your account, so we cannot ask them to find and delete your items. OpenAI keeps API data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, and we cannot promise a deletion schedule at DeepSeek (Privacy Policy, section 6). To get a copy of your data, use the export in the app, which includes your words, Comfort hand-overs, setup answers, plans, rewritten plan days, study progress, reflections, chat messages, and Community content, or write to us. For anything the app does not do for you, write to support@divinebreath.app and say "Consumer health data request". We answer without undue delay and within 45 days. If we need more time, we can extend once by 45 more days and will tell you why.

7. If we say no

If we refuse or cannot complete a request, you can appeal by writing to support@divinebreath.app with the subject "Consumer health data appeal". We answer within 45 days and tell you how to contact the Washington Attorney General if you still disagree.

8. Retention

We keep your own words for your plan for 120 days, your setup answers for 400 days and their short summary while you have your account, the record of your consent for 1,495 days, and a plan report for 365 days. We keep a rewritten plan day, from a morning note or the first day of an AI-written plan, for 365 days. We keep Comfort hand-overs and finished paths for 365 days, and prayer holds for 30 days. We keep safety log entries for crisis findings for 30 days. Reflections, morning notes and chat messages are kept until you delete them or your account, with the periods in the Privacy Policy, section 16.

9. Changes

If we collect other kinds of consumer health data, or use these for another purpose, we will update this policy before we do.
